Challenge Accepted.

One of life’s most constant challenges is change. Change can be as small as new shoes to as big as a new house. In the fitness industry we deal first hand with people who are contemplating change. Altering their lifestyle and their habits is one of the most challenging transformation a person undertakes. This type of change can be filled with fear, uncertainty and misinformation. People are scared of change or in the case of fitness, lack of change, and they are scared of failure.

“If you don’t challenge yourself, you will never realize what you can become”

When contemplating altering your lifestyle  in terms of fitness and health, it is important to Set goals, a.k.a., challenges. Most importantly, don’t overwhelm yourself with goals. Pick one overall goal, such as “I want to lose 20 pounds by Christmas.” Now hypothetically that gives you just over 5 months from today to complete that goal. So break it up, make small changes, these are easier to handle that a big overhaul. So for example, “In July I’m going to walk for 30 minutes at least 5 times a week.” Then in August “I am going to continue walking, but I am also going to try and drink 2 liters of water a day.” So on and so forth.  By doing this you are giving yourself a month to adapt to that change. You will feel less overwhelmed and you will achieve small successes that will lead to the overall success to you in challenge.

You don’t have to take on these changes alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
