Be Thankful for You

We all tend to attempt changes to our body because we don’t like what we see in the mirror. We are our biggest critic, we take all the stereotypes and hype, we judge ourselves by it, and we find ourselves guilty of not fitting the mold. How many times have you caught yourself saying things like “I have a big nose,” or “my thighs are too big” or “I hate my curves?” The trouble is, that somewhere out there, someone else is doing the same thing, only they want what you deem to be unfit for you. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others and be thankful for what it is we have been given.

Does that mean that we aren’t going to want to make changes? No, however we can change the reasons behind those changes. For example, “I love my legs, but I would like them to be stronger,” or “I love my curves, but I want to make sure they are healthy,” or “I am in good shape for someone my age, but I want to
maintain that shape.”

“Workout because you Love your body, not because you Hate it.”

As a trainer I hear clients listing off the things they hate about their bodies. However, every now and then I get in a client who tells me “I just want to be healthier or maintain my personal fitness.” These individuals have put the idea of change for change sake aside and really just want to focus on being a better them.

Sometimes it can be hard to see through the haze of hate to see the truly amazing gift you have been given. Your physical body is capable of so much, and you should treat it as such. Be thankful for what you have, you will be amazed at how your body will respond if you treat it with love, not hate.
