Why Fad Diets Don’t Work.

Fad Diet: a diet that promises quick weight loss with minimal effort or no
exercise.

Types of Fad Diets:

Low Carb/ High Fat Diets
High Protein Diets
Liquid Diets

And that’s just to name a few.

These types of diets are DESIGNED TO FAIL. You heard me, these diets are
designed to fail you. Why? Because unfortunately someone somewhere decided to make a program that yes, would give you results but that would only last for a certain amount of time to keep you coming back. They created the programs so that you would keep spending the money.

Now let me clarify;

These diets will work…for a time, but they are not
something that is sustainable. They are only meant to be used for a certain time. Once the weight comes off and you are finished the diet regime, and you return back to your normal eating habits, you will slide backwards, which will result in gaining back the weight and potentially more.

Some words of advice when it comes to identifying fad diets:

  • If it has you consuming less than 1500 calories, per day, ditch it.
  • If it has you buying copious amounts of product or supplements, ditch it.
  • If it cuts out real food like fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds, legumes and whole grains, ditch it.
  • If they don’t involve physical activity in some way, ditch it.

The major problem with all these fad diets is that most people who buy into the glamour end up yo-yo dieting, that is jumping from one diet to the next. This is incredibly hard on your body (and your budget). Constant dieting can lead to metabolic damage, eating disorders, weight gain, excessive fatigue, they can damage hormone production, dehydration, micro nutrient deficiencies and so much more.

I have said it before  and I will keep saying it. A diet is not a healthy way to approach food or weight-loss. A diet is not Nutrition. There is no cookie cutter, quick fix plan out there that will give you the long lasting results that balanced nutrition and exercise will give you.
