What is Nutrition?

Nutrition is not a diet, it is a not a quick fix, it is not starving yourself, it is not “rabbit food,” and it is not something that you can do for only a few weeks and expect long term results. Nutrition is the most important component of your health, fitness and weight loss goals

Nutrition is a lifestyle and a commitment. It influences your energy levels, your hormone production, it has an effect on every single organism in your body.

Nutrition is a balance. Scientifically it is a balance of macronutrients (protein, fats and carbohydrates), micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), everything your body needs to function. It is also a balance of fueling your body and getting to enjoy the “taboo” foods.

Nutrition is not one size fits all.  Your age, height, weight, genetics, physical activity level, your job, your stress levels and your hormones all influence how your body uses the fuel that you are giving it.

“Replace the terms diet and exercise with eat and train”

This means good, quality, whole foods. A few nutrition tips to get your started:

  • Don’t Skip Meals.
  • Eat Breakfast within 30 minutes of waking.
  • Don’t cut out entire food groups.
  • Drink water, at least 2
    Liters a day.
  • Cut out or minimize
    refined sugars.

To say that nutrition is hard work is an understatement but that does not mean you have to do it all on your own. If you are struggling to achieve your fitness goals, weight loss goals or overall health nutrition is most likely the answer.

If you are interested in Nutrition guidance and information, contact Candace or Cortney with GetFit Camps Lacombe. We would be happy to assist you.
