Reduce Your Stress

With fall comes the return of hectic schedules. We’ll all be juggling work or the kids school schedule, after school practices or college mid terms. The last thing on your mind is taking care of yourself. Whether your are a student or a parent we all have stresses. Here are a few things you can do that will help to alleviate some of your work week or school week stresses.

  1. Take a Break– remember to take breaks every half hour or so. Get up and move around. Getting up and moving isn’t just good for your body’s health it is also great for your concentration.
  2. Practice Hospitality– open a door for someone, wish someone else a good morning. Greet everyone with a smile, Smiles are contagious.
  3. Making Mistakes is Okay– we are human, we are allowed to mess up. The goal is to not let the mistakes get you down.
  4. Change your Environment– sometimes a change in scenery can help with your stress level. While the weather is still warm take your textbooks or laptop outside.
  5. Say No– when your life is getting a bit hectic don’t be afraid to say no. You don’t need to help everyone. Try and keep a list of things that need to be done and things that can wait.
  6. Plan some down time– take time out for yourself. Even if it’s just an hour or two a
couple nights of the week. Give yourself time to just relax, and take your mind off work.
  7. Peace of Mind– at the end of the day, spend some time just breathing and letting your mind go blank. This can help you relax so that you can fall asleep easily and have a peaceful sleep.
